The Gift of Parenthood organization and its partners provide fertility grants to deserving applicants, including both couples and individuals across the US because we believe that the path to parenthood should be available for all. After each grant cycle, chosen applicants can use grant money towards their fertility treatments of choice at any clinic that belongs to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). In 2018, The Gift of Parenthood announced the recipients of the 2018 Christmas Gift of a Lifetime Grant naming Elaine & Gio from NY, New York, the winners. Now, three years later, the couple has become an inspiration and an IVF success story.
An IVF Success Story
Elaine and Gio received fertility care at one of our partner clinics, IVFMD based in South Florida. With live birth success rates well ahead of the national averages, it’s no wonder that the couple selected this medical center for their treatment. Through hope, tears, grant assistance, and IVF two little miracles, Samuel & Abigail were born.
Two weeks into parenthood, Gio had this to say:

Without incredible doctors, compassionate clinics, reproductive medicine, and a whole lot of hope Gio and Elaine’s twins would not be here. In fact, IVF babies have a 0% chance of being here without IVF. The little one in the photo below reminds us of how miraculous these treatments really are.
IVF treatment is a method of assisted reproduction in which a woman’s eggs are fertilized by a man’s sperm outside of the body in a medical laboratory. After an embryo or embryos form, a physician places it in the uterus, and (hopefully) pregnancy occurs. Given that one in eight couples suffer from infertility and more LGBTQ+ individuals want to raise children, IVF has become a household name in the fertility world. Though the procedure is expensive and only used by approximately 5% of US couples, a staggering 8 million IVF babies have been born worldwide since 1978. On average, IVF costs around $12,000; however, there are often additional costs to improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy or to receive donor material. Things like genetic testing, embryo freezing, egg donation, sperm donation, embryo donation, surrogacy, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can add thousands of dollars to the final bill.
Unfortunately, IVF is extremely expensive and many people cannot afford to seek care, especially during these challenging times. Gift of Parenthood helps make parenthood possible for the many couples and individuals, like Gio & Elaine yearning for a child of their own.
