Campaign Story

My name is Joanna.  I am twenty-nine years old and from Mexican descent.  My mother died when I was five years old, I was raised by my older sister.  I have one son his name is Giovanni and he also longs to have a sibling, it breaks my heart when he asks that because he may never have a sibling. More than five years ago, I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, low egg count, and early menopause.  I have been told that my reproductive problem is genetic and there is nothing I could have done to prevent it.

My partner, Sergey, and I live in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Sergey and I have been together for three years, and we know we have found our soulmates!  Now, we long to start a family of our own.  Sergey knew about my reproductive issues before we decided to commit to a relationship, and he has been incredibly supportive and dedicated to me.  We have a loving household as well as an incredibly supportive and loving extended family.  The only thing missing is a baby to make us complete!

My pregnancy journey has been a long one that has been filled with disappointment after disappointment.  I stopped having monthly cycles and was prescribed Provera and Estradiol patches.  I have spent thousands of dollars and traveled many miles from my home to undergo multiple courses of Clomid and Letrozole, as well as trying IVF.  None of these paths have been successful in helping me to become pregnant.  To say that this journey has been long and stressful for both me and Sergey is an understatement.

Being faced with the likelihood that I will not be able to conceive a child with my partner is devastating.  Many times, I feel as if I am less of a woman.  My partner and I are both young, and our deepest desire is to start a family together.  While we recognize that adoption is an option, we do not want to give up on the dream of creating life together.  We do not want to give up on the opportunity to experience the bonding process that takes place between partners during pregnancy and birth.  Sergey and I have dreamed of being parents for a very long time, and it is heartbreaking to think that we may never experience this miracle together.

Sergey and I have consulted with a doctor about donor eggs, however, this process is cost prohibitive for us.  We know that children are an expensive blessing, often before and definitely after birth.  If we were to receive the miracle of such a blessing, we do not want to exhaust our savings on fertility options so that we cannot properly care for our baby when he or she arrives.

Experiencing the joy of bringing the blessing of life into our family is what my partner and I desire most in this world.  For Sergey and me, having a baby would fulfill all of our deepest longings and would increase our already strong bond.  We would greatly appreciate your consideration of our application.  We hope it touches your hearts, and that you can feel our genuine yearning for this miracle.  We are forever grateful for your consideration!
