Campaign Story

My name is Lorena and I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 12. I was told I would have a hard time having children. When we started trying to conceive the doctors discovered that I had benign polyps in my uterus that need to be surgically removed. Post surgery my husband and I had 7 failed fertility treatments and ended up with a infertility diagnosis due to ovarian dysfunction. I was told our only option would be IVF and freezing our eggs and embryos for the future. I applied to a grant in 2021 and won and we successfully got pregnant in April 2022 through this grant and Our son, Elian, was due December 2022 but after a very difficult and traumatic high risk pregnancy we lost him due to preterm labor. He was stillborn in August 2022. Unfortunately we went through IVF with no baby at the end of it. We know that our chances of coming pregnant naturally are low and our only shot is with giving our other 4 frozen embryos a shot. Our insurance doesn’t cover anything and all we have ever desired was to build a family together. Please consider giving to my husband Wilfred and I so we can show love to a little one of our own.

Lorena, I met you briefly years ago through Debby, and we sang worship songs together. I followed your IVF journey and the loss of your sweet boy Elian. God has been waking me up at 3 in the morning ever since the loss of Elian and I mourn and pray for you and Wilfred with a heavy heart but not without hope for your future.
