Campaign Story
My name is Mei. I am 44 years old and I am an artist and Craniosacral Therapist. My partner Dan, 38, is a Chef and musician. We met 4 years ago and live in Tofino, BC, Canada. We love long walks on the beach, bike rides, good food, camping, nights by the fireplace and are dreaming of a child together.
I always wanted to be a mom, and from a very young age felt a strong motherly instinct. When I was 14 my mom passed away. She was a true matriarch and from that moment forward our family had to be there for each other like never before. I’ve always felt that for the first few years after, I acted like a mom to my little brother and sisters.
A part of me always knew I would one day have a family of my own. And with the deep love and connection I share with my immediate family, I would love to be able to add my child to our beautiful tribe.
Dan and I have been trying to conceive naturally for the past 2+ years, we tried it all; diet, supplements, and natural therapies. All fertility test results came back normal – and we have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.
We were told that due to my age we would have a very low chance of success through IVF, using my own eggs. Our doctors believe that an egg donor would be the most viable option, with a 70%-80% chance of a live birth.
So here we are saying yes to trying to conceive a child in any way possible. I pray that I will have the life experience of carrying our baby, loving and nurturing it in ways I’ve always dreamed I would.
Our health insurance does not cover fertility treatments, and the provincial government of British Columbia does not offer any aid. We are struggling to source other options for financial assistance.
We cherish our crafts we get to call professions, however in this unique to us situation we find ourselves in need of the gracious generosity of others to help us realize our dream of becoming parents.
We humbly ask for your support so that we can one day hold a precious baby in our arms. Every small amount would help. We thank you.
