Campaign Story

Eleven years ago we got married. Heidi graduated from seminary, we moved to Exeter, and began this decade of our life. It has been richer and even more beautiful than we could have imagined. We’ve both built meaningful careers. We have the absolute best family and community around us. We love our Stars Hollow life.

But, something has been missing. Both of us have a deep desire to be parents. We dearly want to add a baby to our family.

After long Covid, years of infertility treatment being financially out of reach, and more, the door finally opened. We have been working with an incredible fertility team to try to make this long and tenderly held dream a reality.

After many rounds of trying with different kinds of medication, many thousands of dollars out of pocket, and more, the time has arrived where IVF is our best option. Unfortunately, our health insurance will not cover IVF due to an arbitrary age cut off (despite Heidi being medically a strong candidate).

For years, some of you have asked us if or when we will have our own kids. You have encouraged us to think about being parents, or lamented that we aren’t.  So now? We need your help.

It is hard to ask for help. We will be honest that we’ve protected the privacy of our process pretty intensely, and it is hard to have to let go of that for financial reasons. And we’ve been so well supported already, and are taking the risk to ask for financial help based on that support. We have worked hard to divert every extra resource we have to fertility treatments now (including this next step) for a long while. But, the cost (around $24,000 all in for a full cycle of IVF plus medication) is simply more than we can bear alone. We trust in the power of community.

Time matters here. Age is a big factor in fertility and this year may be our last chance to have our dearly hoped for little one. Will you come alongside us to help us make operation baby bear a reality? Thanks in advance and we love you all.
