Each quarter, the Gift of Parenthood organization and its partners provide fertility grants to future parents across the US. The chosen applicants receive financial assistance towards their fertility treatments. Without partners like Lane Fertility Institute, our grant cycles would not be possible. Lane Fertility supported the 2021 Christmas Gift Of A Lifetime Grant, and we would like to share some information about what makes them unique.

Lane Fertility Institute’s Cost-Conscious Care

Lane Fertility Institute, led by Dr. Danielle Lane, is located in sunny California. The team is completed by embryologist Stanislav Shekhovtsov, expert clinicians, and office staff that ensure all patients are comfortable, informed, and ready to tackle treatment head-on. Lane Fertility has convenient locations in San Francisco and Novato, California, offering customized fertility care to patients of all backgrounds. They offer a wide range of treatment options, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), fertility preservation, intrauterine insemination (IUI), Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), egg freezing, preimplantation genetic screening (PGS), preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), and alternative family planning.

Because the majority of Dr. Lane’s patients do not have insurance coverage for reproductive care, she uses a cost-conscious method to help keep costs low. To do this, Lane avoids working with many insurance providers. Instead, she opts for a cash payment system with streamlined treatment packages. All treatments offered at Lane Fertility are optimized for affordability and are often significantly cheaper than other clinics.

To help you learn more about the clinic, Dr. Lane answered some common questions that new patients ask at their first visit.

What Kind of Procedures Are Considered Basic Fertility Treatment?

There are three services considered to be fundamental to infertility treatment: natural cycle monitoring, ovulation induction, and IUI.

Natural cycle monitoring helps couples determine when ovulation occurs, allowing them to optimize the timing of their intercourse or intrauterine procedure. Monitoring also helps to identify if any irregularities may require further testing.

Ovulation Induction is used to stimulate a woman’s ovaries with medications or fertility drugs. Ovulation induction is frequently used in conjunction with IUI.

IUI involves placing sperm directly into the uterus. A catheter is passed through the cervix into the uterus, and sperm is injected directly into the uterus, giving it a greater chance of reaching and fertilizing an egg. This process helps treat mild to moderate male factor issues.

Are There Other Options If The Most Basic Treatments Are Not Successful?

If non-invasive procedures are not successful or the monitoring shows that further testing and treatment are necessary, the doctors at Lane Fertility Institute may use techniques like laparoscopy or hysteroscopy to diagnose fertility issues further.

Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure used where a thin tube is inserted through an incision in the abdomen to examine the abdominal wall and female pelvic organs.  It is used to diagnose problems such as cysts, adhesions, fibroids, or infection. It can also confirm endometriosis, a condition where cells that look and act like uterine lining are found in other parts of the abdominal cavity.

A hysteroscopy allows a physician to inspect the inside of the uterus for fibroids, polyps, scarring, or abnormal shape. This procedure involves a thin hysteroscopy being inserted through the cervix into the uterus.
