Campaign Story

My name is Hannah, my husband is Tristan. We’ve been on a roller coaster ride for infertility! We’ve been together for 9 years, and married for 4! We’ve been actively trying since 2015. That’s when I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). I’ve taken many, many rounds of Clomid, a medicine to help you ovulate. It worked on and off for me, but my doctor would never change the medicine, even though it didn’t work half the time. I got pregnant in October of 2019, it ended in miscarriage at 7-10 weeks. I switched doctors after not getting anywhere! My new doctor immediately put me on Metformin, and put me on Letrozole (similar to Clomid, it helps you ovulate). After a couple of months, I wasn’t ovulating, she sent me to a Reproductive Endocrinologist, I was there for almost 10 months with no luck. It was a bad experience there, unfortunately. I never met the doctor until 7 months in, when nothing else was working, they never knew why I was there, called me to be seen at wrong times! At that doctor I did timed intercourse, 3 IUI’s, and timed intercourse again. I had a miscarriage in October of 2021 as well, when my RE told us to take 2 months off and lose weight! When I met with the doctor, he told us that we were really to young to do IVF. It was very disheartening to hear! We moved to another Reproductive Endocrinologist, where his first step was IVF! Here is the downside, I’d have to IVF with genetic testing, because I am at risk for Huntington’s Disease. Huntington’s Disease is a neurological brain disorder. My mom had this disease, and that means I have a 50/50 chance of developing it as well. If I have it, I could pass it down to my children, unless I get IVF with genetic testing, that is costing roughly $25,000+. I appreciate anyone who is able to read our story, and possibly tell our story!
