Personal Statement
My name is Jamie Thrash, and I am a wife, mother, and woman of faith who is holding onto hope for another child. I am writing to apply for this fertility grant because IVF is currently our only option to expand our family, and we cannot afford it on our own.
Years ago, during a previous marriage, my then-husband signed consent papers for me to have my tubes tied without my knowledge or permission. I was devastated when I later discovered what had been done. That experience took a deep emotional toll on me, but through God’s grace, I have found healing and strength.
I am the proud mother of two beautiful sons, Joseph and William. My oldest son is autistic, and at the time, my former husband did not want them. He legally gave up his rights and allowed my current husband, Germaine who has stepped up with unconditional love to take full custody. He even allowed their last names to be legally changed. That painful season turned into a blessing, as our family was rebuilt with true love and acceptance.
Today, I am happily remarried to Germaine, and together we desire to grow our family. Since tubal reversal is not available at our current clinic, IVF is our only option. Germaine works full time to support us, and I receive Social Security due to ongoing health challenges. We do everything we can, but the cost of IVF is simply beyond our reach.
Receiving this grant would be a life-changing opportunity a chance to complete our family, restore what was taken from me without consent, and continue forward in love, faith, and healing. Thank you for considering our story and for offering families like mine a chance at hope.
With gratitude,
Jamie Thrash
