Campaign Story
Hi, I’m Myrna Ferrera. My husband and I have always dreamed of growing our family. Three years ago, that dream began to come true when we found out we were expecting our child. We were overjoyed and already planning for a second baby soon after.
My pregnancy was beautiful until 36 weeks, when I was diagnosed with preeclampsia. During labor, I only dilated 3 centimeters, and our son was delivered via an emergency vertical C-section. Holding our healthy baby boy felt like a miracle. But a week after coming home, my C-section incision began leaking fluid. I returned to the hospital, where a CT scan revealed a severe infection in my uterus. At first, I didn’t understand—they told me I needed another surgery, but they had to identify the infection first. Despite antibiotics and specialists, the infection only worsened. I’ll never forget the day my doctor sat with me and said she was deeply worried. She explained that to save my life, they needed to perform a hysterectomy. I was devastated. I cried, I refused—but I knew I had to make the hardest choice because my son and husband needed me with them.
Losing my uterus changed everything. The dream of giving our son a sibling, of completing our family as we’d always planned, felt shattered. But we haven’t given up hope. We’re now pursuing surrogacy, a beautiful but costly path to bring another child into our family. The expenses—including medical procedures, agency fees, and legal support—are significant, and we can’t do it alone.
We’re humbly asking for your support. Any contribution you can make will bring us one step closer to welcoming a new baby into our arms and hearts. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us rebuild our dream and for believing in our family’s future.
