My name is Amanda Smallwood, in 2018 I was diagnosed with secondary infertility. I received this diagnosis while my Mother was receiving her terminal diagnosis. Therefore it wasn’t the top priority of things to do. The main cause was a birth defect, a unicorn horn also known as a unicornuate uterus. I only knew as far as my GYN. In 2019 after the passing of my Mother, I met my Finace. I fell in love! I started to really live and enjoy life like never before and making all these plans for our future. Not being able to have a child of our own wasn’t apart of our plans. All my friends say I am the best animal Mother or when they get old they want me to care for them. Its who I am, I so desperately want to be a Mother and have apart of my Mother in my own child. These are the things that don’t come easy for woman with fertility trouble. My fiancé an I tried & tried. Multiple times we would be so excited thinking that possibly we were pregnant. After no success we sought help through Shady Grove. Multiple test and exams later we found that not only do I have a birth defect my other tube had to be removed as well. I underwent surgery 6 weeks ago and now I have no fallopian tubes. Our only chance of conceiving will be through IVF. The one thing I want more than anything is to have a child of my own. We have exhausted all options and I’m seeking help through other amazing woman who struggle just like myself. Our insurance companies have zero fertility coverage. This is all out of pocket and honestly we weren’t prepared for this news. We thought up until a few weeks ago that my body could do this on its own. Any help of even sharing this page we greatly appreciate. The old saying is it takes a village, in our case it’s going to take a village to even get there.
