Campaign Story

My name is Erin and I am a cancer survivor/thriver, 5th grade teacher, and solo mother.

Five years ago my world was turned upside-down when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 38. Hearing that diagnosis made one thing very clear to me. If I could get well enough, I wanted to be a mother. Because of chemo and not having a partner, I didn’t try to preserve any of my eggs and followed the path of embryo adoption…which has been an incredible journey for me in itself.

After being given the green light by my oncologist, I transferred one of the embryos that I adopted and had a beautiful, healthy, baby girl named Waverly a year and a half ago. I know, without question, she is the reason I was brought to this earth and I have a feeling I am not done. I believe there is another little soul waiting to join our beautiful, little family.

I have another embryo that I adopted and would count myself incredibly lucky to try to give Waverly a sibling to grow through this life with. I have been cleared again by my oncologist to get pregnant (even more enthusiastically this time than last). However, after cancer treatment, embryo adoption, and the transfer for my beautiful baby girl, my savings is low and going through another transfer is financially out of reach for me at this time.

I am planning for a September 2024 transfer so Waverly and the new baby could be close in age. I would be forever grateful to any contribution you are willing or able to make. If you cannot make a financial contribution, I am also accepting all the positive thoughts, prayers, intentions that you are willing to send as well…I truly believe those help just as much!

Thank you also to the Gift of Parenthood to offering this space for people like me to try to make their dreams of a family come true.
