Campaign Story
Chris (33) and I, Cenia (33) have been together for four years. My husband has two boys. Ages thirteen and ten. I have a seven year old son. Two years ago we decided to start planning for a “ours” baby.
In 2017 I began to have severe pelvic pain and irregular menstrual cycles. Among other symptoms. Two ovarian cyst measuring 5cm each were found and surgery was needed. Three years later, in 2020, the cysts had grown back causing pain that interfered with my daily life. A second surgery was performed in 2021.
In 2020 I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). A little bit about PCOS: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder. It can cause missed or irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth, acne, infertility, and weight gain. Women with PCOS may be at higher risk for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, and endometrial cancer. Women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This hormone imbalance causes their body to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant.
In August of 2021, we met with a fertility doctor who did a few blood tests. She diagnosed me with PCOS and Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). She informed us my reserves were at .832. She explained to us that low egg reserve refers to the number and quality of eggs left. A low ovarian reserve means I have less than the average number of eggs expected for a woman of my age. She went on to advice us to conceive in the year 2022 no later than 2023.
We sought a second opinion and my diagnoses were confirmed. Our current fertility doctor explained that because of PCOS and the low ovarian reserves, our best option is IVF. We’ve had out of pocket expenses, because our insurances will not cover any lab work and procedure related to fertility treatment. Due to our financial struggle, we’ve had to put our IVF plan on hold.
We pray we have the opportunity and funds to bring a new baby into our family. We strongly believe with your help our prayers will be answered.
Chris and I want to thank each of you in advance for taking the time to read our story and donate. Every penny counts and we are extremely grateful.
God Bless!
