Campaign Story
Hello, my name is Deilet Vázquez, and I am 25 years old. My husband, Héctor Hernández, is 30 years old. We are a Cuban couple who came to the United States four years ago with hope, determination, and the dream of building a better future.
We thought we were beginning the happiest chapter of our lives. We had jobs, a home, our beloved dog Zeus, and plans for the family we hoped to build together.
Then, in 2024, everything changed.
The first time I became pregnant, doctors discovered a 15-centimeter cancerous tumor. Within a few months, it had grown to 20 centimeters. Hearing the word “cancer” was terrifying, but what came next was even harder. To save my life, doctors had to remove one of my ovaries and fallopian tubes.I tried to stay hopeful and believed the worst was behind me.
But only a few months later, the cancer returned. This time, a 7-centimeter tumor was found in my remaining ovary. Once again, I faced surgery. To save my life, doctors had to remove my second ovary and fallopian tube.
Today, I am incredibly grateful to be alive. My doctors have confirmed that my uterus is healthy and capable of carrying a pregnancy. However, because I no longer have ovaries, I cannot conceive naturally.
My only chance to become a mother is through IVF using donor eggs.
My husband and I have been doing everything possible to move forward. We have completed medical testing, blood work, fertility evaluations, and continue taking the necessary steps toward treatment. After surviving cancer twice, we refuse to give up on our dream of having a child.
Unfortunately, the financial burden of IVF, donor eggs, medications, and medical procedures is overwhelming. The cost is far beyond what we can afford on our own.
That is why we are humbly asking for your support.Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to the family we have dreamed of for so long. If you are unable to donate, sharing our story would mean the world to us.Cancer took away my ability to conceive naturally, but it did not take away my dream of becoming a mother.
Thank you for reading our story, for your kindness, and for helping us keep hope alive.
With gratitude,
Deilet & Héctor
