Campaign Story

Like most on here, we are on a journey to bring a child home. While we always knew we would need a sperm donor, the hope was to conceive through IUI and not need IVF, but the universe had other plans. After the first ultrasound with our fertility clinic, I was sent for an MRI because she could see masses that were concerning to her. That MRI revealed an 8cm tumor that was going to need surgically removed. After surgery, I would need pelvic floor therapy before being able to proceed.
Although the plan was for a simple laparoscopic out-patient surgery to remove the tumor, I ended up needing a second emergency surgery to stop severe internal bleeding. Unfortunately, that bleeding was coming from one of my ovaries, leading to that tube and ovary being removed. During the surgery, it was also determined that my other tube was closed– meaning IUI was not going to be an option.
With surgery in the rearview mirror, we are now preparing to begin IVF. Neither of us have fertility coverage within our health insurance plans, so we will be paying for everything out of pocket. Any help on this journey is greatly appreciated and will make life that much easier once we are able to bring home a baby!
