Campaign Story

Hello, my name is Anisa. My husband Coy and I got married in 2017. We are blessed with a daughter from a previous marriage and were a family of three from the get go. However, Coy and I have always envisioned growing our family to a much greater extent. We immediately started trying to get pregnant after we got married, but to our dismay it took over a year to be blessed with our youngest. We figured that this meant that though it might take us a little longer, we were indeed able to have children and looked forward to bringing another spirit into our lives someday.

We started trying to get pregnant again in the summer of 2021. Verity was 18 months, and we had hoped that we would close the gap between our next two. However, every month the disappointment would strike our hearts when yet again my cycle came. We started seeking advice from our healthcare providers on what we could do to increase our chances and we started undergoing testing. The results of the testing weren’t phenomenal, but they weren’t terrible either. We continued to track my cycles and use all the traditional methods to gets pregnant, but 2 years later, still no baby.

Coy and I continued to pray to determine if this was the right course of action for our family. Were we meant to continue to grow our family, or were the two spirits we were blessed to our care the extent of our family? But every time we would both come away with the same answer: someone was waiting for us.

We decided to seek more specific care for our ailments and sought diagnosis from a fertility clinic. We waited patiently for the results of our testing, hoping that we would only need minor intervention to get where we needed to be.

The fateful phone call came. Where most of our tests came back normal, there was a vital component missing. The results for this test came back “abysmal.” It seemed that our pregnancy with our youngest was somewhat of a miracle, as what appears to be a degenerative condition, was now preventing us from getting pregnant again. The odds were not in our favor. There would be only one option: IVF.

Coy and I were devastated. We’d been prompted several times that our family was incomplete, but how could we be expected to complete our family when the cost would financially prohibit us from doing so?

We decided to take a break. We postponed our further appointments and refocused ourselves on our relationship and our two girls that we love and enjoy so much. But as the months passed, the feeling that there was someone patiently waiting for us did not dissipate.

All while this was going on, Coy and I were experiencing a lot of changes in our life. We moved to northern Utah so that I could pursue an internship with the Church. After only 8 months, I was able to procure a full-time job with another department in the Church that gave me benefits that would in part support IVF. It seemed that while we struggled with knowing what to do, Heavenly Father was laying the foundation for us to be able to do it.

After many long discussion, pro/con lists, and heartfelt prayer, we have decided to pursue IVF in order to make our family whole. But we cannot do it alone.

Thankfully, the Church’s insurance is designed to aid families to alleviate the financial burden of treatments like IVF; however, that only covers a portion. It does not include the required medication to prepare or testing required to prepare for the procedure. We are reaching out to our friends and family to ask you to help us in this endeavor. Whatever you may be able to give will go toward bringing another spirit into a loving home. It is our belief that we are meant to accept into our hearts another child (maybe more, you never know with IVF!) and we appreciate any assistance you may give toward that end.

We are so grateful for our girls and for the lessons that they teach us everyday, we look forward to the blessings that another member of our family will bring into all of our lives. We are grateful to our Heavenly Father, through Whom, all things are possible. And we are grateful for our friends and family, especially those who have been with us throughout the ups and downs of this journey so far. We look forward to sharing in the success of this treatment with you all. Thank you for all that you do for us.

Love,
Anisa and Coy

    Now we wait

**Update: First Stage of Our IVF Journey**

We are excited to share an important update on our IVF journey! After weeks of anticipation, our treatment officially began, and we have navigated through the initial stages with determination and hope.

Our journey started with meticulous preparation and daily hormone injections, which were necessary to stimulate my ovaries and produce multiple eggs. Despite the physical and emotional challenges, the support from friends and family has kept our spirits high.

After a series of monitoring appointments and ultrasounds, we reached the pivotal moment: the egg retrieval procedure. It was a significant step, and we were hopeful for a positive outcome. Today, we received the results from the fertilization process, and we are thrilled to report that out of the 10 eggs retrieved, 9 were mature enough for fertilization and all 9 eggs have successfully fertilized!

This milestone is a crucial one, but we know the journey is far from over. More testing, more medication, and more waiting is in our future. We are grateful for your continued support and encouragement as we move forward to the next stages of this process. Your generosity has been instrumental in helping us get to this point, and we are deeply thankful for every contribution and kind word.

Please stay tuned for further updates, and thank you once again for being a part of this journey with us. Your support means the world.

    With heartfelt thanks,
    Anisa & Coy
