Campaign Story
My name is Stephanie, and here is our fertility story.
My husband, Tyler, and I have been together since 2014. We bought a house, and the same day we moved in he proposed. We got married in 2016 and I got off birth control thinking okay, when it happens it happens. Little did we know this process wasn’t going to happen quickly for us. This created a lot of emotions and stress for both of us, as we tried all we could on our own, and with medical professionals. Fast forward to Fall of 2022 and we took our first step to figure out how we could make this dream a reality. We found out on October 28 that In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the route that has the highest success.
For those who are not aware, IVF is the process of collecting eggs from a woman and sperm from a man, and fertilizing them in the embryology laboratory. In order to increase chances of fertilization, a single sperm is injected into each of the retrieved eggs using a micropipette in a process called Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). We also are undertaking Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT), which is genetic testing that will increase our chances of a successful pregnancy.
Now knowing what we will have to do, and go through, there is an additional worry of trying to figure out how to pay for all of the treatments and processes. Our insurance doesn’t cover everything we will have to go through, and we are fortunate that it does cover some (not a lot, but better than none at all). Michigan is one of many states that does not have laws requiring employers/insurance companies to cover these treatments.
I am asking for any help on this new path by donating to our fundraiser. We are seeking assistance with the financial burden of egg/sperm preservation, storage, additional testing, and anything else that our IVF journey can create that would tack on additional costs that insurance does not cover, or that we were not already planning on being prepared for. We would be honored if you could help. Even $5 would mean the world to us and help us make Baby Asher become a reality.

Beyond Grateful
In 3 days time you have helped us surpass our expectations. We have never felt so much love from our family, friends, and community. We are truly blessed and extremely grateful for each and everyone of you who has supported us in this new adventure. It was scary to put this out there, but to know we aren’t alone in our fight to start a family means so much. So thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have made this new adventure less stressful knowing that we have an amazing village behind us every step of the way! God bless! ?

Shots & Medicine
On March 9 everything go going with the IVF meds. We have our baseline data and got to start add in our first shot, Cetrotide, on Sunday, March 12. This drug helps the follicles in the ovary grow together instead of being in a competition. I was then instructed to call on day 1 of my first mensus. On March 17 I got to add two more shorts (Gonal F and Menopur) to the list. I was super nervous at first having to mix things together and making sure everything was right and ready. Initial reactions, I don't really care for the Menopur as it stings, but not horrible. Gonal F and I seem to have a hard time finding the right speed to get the needle to actually poke through the skin. After all of these shots, I feel like I could add shot giving to my resume. haha I am being closely monitored now with bloodwork and ultrasounds every other day. Our first ultrasound while on these new meds was 3.20.23, this allows the nurses and doctors to see how the follicles were responding to the medicine. The right ovary is looking good. The left ovary is going a little slow so if you wanted to add in some prayers to get its butt in gear and not be so shy, we would appreciate it. I have two more ultrasounds this week to see how everything is going and adding back another medicine tomorrow (3.21) morning. We currently have our egg retrieval scheduled for Wednesday, March 29.
