Campaign Story

My name is Beth, and I have adenomyosis. Adenomyosis is a common health condition in women where endometrial tissue grows inside the muscle layer of the uterus, causing severe pain and often infertility. The condition may affect 20% to 65% of people born female, but still no cure exists beyond hysterectomy. My partner and I have tried to get pregnant for the last year and a half; however, adenomyosis has made that journey a dead end. We are currently in the process of freezing embryos so we can have a shot at surrogacy with my generously willing sister. Now, as we process the grief of adenomyosis ending my ability to carry a child, we look optimistically toward the future with gestational surrogacy. I have survived this debilitating medical condition because I am a fighter; however, my fight is not over. I am asking you to help us on this new path by donating to our fundraiser. We are seeking assistance with the financial burden of surrogacy, and we would be honored if you could help. Even $10 would mean the world to us and help me fight for our future family.

As you may know, navigating the healthcare system, especially for women, is a gauntlet. Coverage for specialized reproductive care is exclusively limited to carriers of private insurance provided by large scale employers. This kind of coverage is not available for the individual to purchase through the marketplace. We are in a position where we now must fund the entirety of the process out of pocket. The clinic I have chosen to work with has been very helpful in facilitating our financial situation, however we cannot do this alone. With your support we will have the reassurance and the flexibility we will most certainly need in the coming months.

It has been an excruciating year trying to find a care group who has a working knowledge of my condition and can help us take the next steps towards building a family and for my own personal recovery.  Now that I have found a doctor who I can trust, the only obstacle is finding the funding to proceed. Not only will there be medical expenses and prescription drugs costs, but we are also looking at legal fees, travel expenses for my sister, and missed time from work as I recover from my hysterectomy

I know it has been a hard few years for most. If you are able to help us on this journey it would truly make all the difference in the world. Thank you for reading !

    Setback

Hello everyone. Unfortunately I am updating the fundraiser with bad news. This last weekend I was hospitalized when. CT scan found a few pulmonary embolisms and lung nodules in my chest. Combined with a suspicious growth found on an MRI just a week prior, we are almost certain there is a malignancy growing. Currently we are going through the diagnostic phase but needless to say fertility has taken a back seat to my own survival at this given time. Once I am able to start treatment and have my operation we hope to move on to pursue adoption. Please keep us in your thoughts. Thank you
