Campaign Story

My name is Myrissa, and my wife’s name is Angelica. We began our journey to building a family early this year and realized the challenges that are ahead of us. My wife, the one who will be carrying our future child, was diagnosed with one kidney and PCOS last year. This diagnosis added an additional challenge to building our family. The fertility costs of IUI and medical treatment is a large cost in it’s own, which we were prepared for, but also with Angelica being diagnosed with one kidney it has its own effects on fertility as a whole. We have made the jump and are currently working with fertility doctors. There are additional medical costs for medication and check ups needed throughout IUI and during the pregnancy that are foreseen. Some may ask why I do not carry first instead, but the reality is that Angelica and I both want a child that shares her DNA and she wants to experience being pregnant, if her body allows it. If I carry first this post-pones her for a few years and it is the smarter decision to do it while she is under 30 (currently 29) when her body is as healthy as can be. We do not want to push off her biological clock and increase her risks of pregnancy even more than they are at now. It is a dream that we both share to become parents together. The decision has been made that if she cannot carry, we will go through IVF, and I will carry the baby that has her DNA. This would also be of additional costs we were not so prepared for. We have been together for nearly 8 years and hope to add an addition to our family with your help in donations. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read our story.
