Campaign Story

Justin and I have basically known each other our whole lives. We both went to the same preschool, got babysat by the same babysitter, and both of our parents worked together. We got separated for a period of time. My family moved when I was five years old. Our parents saw each other every once and a while at the grocery store but other than that we didn’t keep in good contact. Until, I was in my second semester of college and Justin had just graduated high school. We funny/crazy enough found each other on Facebook and exchanged phone numbers. We met up a couple of days later at a park we used to play at as kids. We dated for seven years before we decided to get married. We have been married now for five years. We started to try for a family shortly after being married. Unfortunately, in March of 2020 my husband and I got into a pretty bad motorcycle accident. Some of the injuries that was caused by the accident has played a role in our infertility journey. Also, in March of 2020 I was diagnosed with PCOS. After having this diagnosis, I did a lot of research on the do’s and don’ts. There were a lot of changes I personally have had to make. I started with adding vitamins. Then found out a lot of things in our home were hormone disruptors. So, we started to change things such as hair products, make up, laundry soap, kitchen products, and the big one our food. We have been trying to stay with a non – toxic / non – inflammatory / low – carb diet. With Justin we added vitamins to his routine as well as the diet. After about a year of trying these things, we decided maybe it was time to get some help and schedule an appointment with a fertility clinic for January of 2022. They recommended starting with some blood work for both of us. Then we later did a vaginal ultrasound reconfirming that I did have PCOS.  Justin was diagnosed with male factor infertility. We planned to schedule an IUI for August of 2022. But in March of 2022 we got a huge surprise and found out we were pregnant! But unfortunately, at eight weeks we miscarried. We tried for a couple of more months to get pregnant again. In December of 2022 we had plans to start our first round of clomid but by our surprise again on the day of our due date we found out we were pregnant again. But unfortunately, this also ended in an early miscarriage. In January of 2023 we started the first round of clomid. We did three more rounds after and out of the four rounds I had quality ovulation for three of them with no pregnancies. This is when they suggested to have me get and HSG test done. This test came back as normal findings. We had Justin do another semen analysis and his sperm count was still lower than normal. October 2023, Justin was put on Clomid. In November 2023 we got pregnant once again but miscarried in December 2023. In June and August 2024, we had IUI failures.
We are trying to not be discouraged and keep positive attitudes though at times it is very tough because we would like a family of our own. Throughout this time, we have continued to research and remove items in our environment that may pose issues to our fertility. Whether we decide to continue IUI or IVF, we truly are dedicated to try and conceive and start a family and are hopeful that we can receive funding to help with the expenses of our journey.
