Campaign Story

My name is Richard Clapso and I’m fund raising on behalf of me and my wife. We are both 31 year old elementary school teachers. In 2013, we met in college and fell in love over our common interests as well as our shared passion for teaching and helping children.

We got married in 2017 and immediately tried to have a family. Having a family was something we both really wanted and waited for the perfect time. Over the years we were never successful thinking it was maybe just bad timing. We then went to doctors and learned that it would be very difficult to have children on our own.

We then tried the IUI process which included invasive Dr. visits as well as numerous shots. We were very excited by this new journey but sadly it did not work either. We then tried the process three more times with out any success.

We then took some time off to rethink our decisions and where we would like to go next. We then talked to many doctors and decided to try IVF. My wife has been given dozens of shots over this time and I have watched her take it all in stride with the goal of having a child. The first transfer didn’t work so we are trying again now.

This journey has been very painful, physically mentally and financially. My wife and I have taken second jobs at times outside of teaching to cover some of the expenses but it is still hard to catch up. We know it all will be worth it though when we finally have that beautiful baby staring back at us!!
