Campaign Story

Our story began when we met on a trip with mutual friends. We had an instant connection and quickly became good friends. Despite all our friends thinking we had been secretly dating for years, we started dating after 3 years of a great friendship.
My (Courtney) story began when I was  born with a very rare disease called cystinosis. It affects only 2,000 people worldwide. Aside from regular doctor visits and taking medication every 6 hours, I was lucky to have a fairly normal childhood. Then at the age of 25 I had a kidney transplant. The years following were difficult as I struggled with my new transplant properly functioning. Ultimately 5 years later, I received a second transplant.
Four months before my 2nd kidney transplant, Corey proposed. We were finally married in October of 2021, after 2 COVID wedding postponements and spending a large part of our engagement apart.
Now two years later we are ready to embark on our next journey together, parenthood. Unfortunately, I am unable to remain on my medication and safely carry a child.  We both have always wanted to be parents and know we will make a great team. However, surrogacy is an extensive process with many high costs. We hate having to fundraise but those lottery numbers just haven’t hit yet. We understand it is a lot to raise but any amount, if you are willing and able to contribute, is so greatly appreciated! For those who aren’t able to help financially, we would be very grateful if you could share our story.
