Campaign Story

My name is Melanie, my husband (Craig) and I met later in life and got married 3 years ago. We both hope to start a family, even though we are now both in our 40’s. We are Aunt and Uncle to 12 kiddos who we get to love on often. I’ve always wanted to have a family of my own but knew it was important to find the right man to be a good father and husband. I finally found him and we’ve been trying to get pregnant right away.
Our journey started 4 months after we got married when I got a positive pregnancy test. I was in shock and Craig was so excited and already started planning how to tell the Parents. A week later, just as the excitement was setting in that we were going to have a baby, I started bleeding. After a trip to the doctor, it was confirmed that I was having an early miscarriage. Over the past 2 years we’ve had 2 known pregnancy losses and 1 ectopic pregnancy which resulted in emergency surgery.
In the past 8 months we’ve had 3 rounds of IUI and attempted one round of IVF but had to cancel that cycle due to the ectopic pregnancy. We are just now getting started with another start at IVF. Luckily I hadn’t started any medications so we didn’t have to purchase more. While insurance covered most of my surgery, we still owe $2500 and insurance doesn’t cover any fertility expenses, so everything mg has been out of pocket and we’ve had to take out a loan to cover expenses up to this point. There are still other expenses we will have to cover and we are just praying God will provide those funds in whatever way so we can have a chance at getting our family. Whether it’s through IVF or adoption.
