My Name is Alanna, and I have been diagnosed with infertility which is caused by PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which is thought to be associated with a dysfunction in developing a mature follicle leading to anovulation. Since the age of 37 my ovaries have completely stop producing reproductive hormones sending me into premature menopause. Menopause that happens before age 40 is called premature menopause. Menopause that happens between 40 and 45 is called early menopause. About 5% of women naturally go through early menopause.
I have been struggling with infertility in silence for too long and I want to take my voice back. I would like to build my family, and I need fertility treatments, but the costs are just too much to handle right now. Infertility is emotionally draining, to say the least, and it’s only heightened by the financial strain. I often ask myself, “Why me?” as I scroll through pregnancy announcements on social media. My ultimate dream is to be a mother and I know I can get there.
