Campaign Story

My name is Candice and my wife and I have been together for 20 years, (High school sweethearts). We have always dreamt of having a family, but didn’t know it was going to be so hard. We have experienced so much heart ache though out the years. I got pregnant via IUI over two years ago, but the pregnancy resulted in a loss because it was ectopic. As a result, I needed emergency surgery and my left ovary was removed. My doctor was optimistic and said that my chances of conceiving naturally was still good. After waiting for a few months, we continued our journey. I had two chemical pregnancies and then FINALLY, got pregnant once again. This time the baby was where they needed to be and everything was fine for the most part. I was diagnosed with a hydrosalpinx on my right where I have my one ovary left. The doctor was concerned, but said we have to take things day by day. I had no idea what a hydrosalpinx was and I did my own research. I started to become so anxious about it because I didn’t what it to hurt my baby. We went in for my 8 week ultrasound and I was told I had a missed miscarriage. Our hearts shattered to pieces. I went home, still feeling pregnant and had to experience the agony of waiting for my body to realize what had happened. About 3 weeks later, I started to miscarry. It was devastating and because the subject is so taboo in our society. We grieved in silence and it seemed like everyone expected us to be okay. I went back to work two days later. I am a mental health therapist and continued to carry everyone else’s pain while I carried my own. We are still hopeful, but have come to the conclusion that IVF may be the only route. However, financially, we can’t afford it. We are asking for help to start our family. We are grateful for anything that we receive! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
