Campaign Story
Does online dating work? For us, it did. In 2012, Tabitha checked out Edwin’s profile on Christain Mingle, leading to a wild 2-year long-distance relationship, made more challenging by Edwin enduring kidney failure and dialysis. After getting married in Arizona in 2014, we started life together in Upstate New York. In April 2015, Edwin received a kidney transplant, a blessing, but it also made starting a family a challenge. After 4 years of trying, with all the tears and heartache of late periods and blank pregnancy tests, we finally decided to get a fertility doctor involved. 5 years and 3 Drs later, we are FINALLY ready to start IVF. Why IVF? Unfortunately, the kidney doctor put Edwin on an antibiotic called Bactrim after his transplant, but never took him off it. Between the Bactrim, diabetes, and hypothyroidism, the chances of IVF are our best chance to be parents.
Both of us have wanted to be parents all our lives. As the oldest of 7, Tabitha grew up around babies and always dreamed of having a baby and being a mother. Edwin has always wanted to be a father and would be amazing with children. It has been trying to get this far without children, but we have faith that in God’s timing, it will happen. We may have to get help from doctors, but we believe in His timing first.
After 10 years, we have been told that IVF is our best bet. We are going through Kindbody in the Northeast and most of the treatment will be covered by a work benefit. However, we still struggle to cover the interim expenses, especially travel into New York City to reach the clinic. Thank you for any donation.
