Campaign Story

Hello there! We are Bri and Mal! First off, thank you for taking the time to read our story, my wife and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read about us. My wife and I have been together for nearly 13 years, we met when we were 19 working at Disneyland together. We have been married for 6 of those years. We have always dreamt about having a family together and finally have been able to start our journey to having a baby and growing our little family.

I have always been the one that wanted to carry the baby and try to use my own eggs, however my body had something different in mind. My AMH is low for my age and I went through a very aggressive IVF treatment, my egg retrieval didn’t go as planned. I had 4 follicles, and of those they were only able to get 2 eggs. Only one of those eggs was mature enough to fertilize, it fertilized but then eventually arrested and stopped growing. This was absolutely devastating to us. We knew going in that the odds were not in our favor but we still had hope.

The dreams of our baby and plans we had felt like they were fading and slipping away out of reach with this news. We had to take out a 35k loan to try this process and it just failed so quickly. Due to the high costs, we don’t see a path moving forward without assistance. It was devastating to know that this may have been our one shot. The emotional toll this has taken and the stress has been a lot to cope with.

We have decided if we are able to try again, we will be using my wife’s eggs instead and I will be carrying. This greatly increases our chance of success. After consulting with our fertility doctor, we have come to the conclusion that this is the best path forward, if we are able to try again.
