Campaign Story

We never imagined we’d be here—asking for help to start a family. But after years of heartache, 4 failed IUI attempts after a devastating miscarriage, we’ve reached a point where love, science, and community must come together. And for that, we need you.
I’m Nikki, an elementary school PE teacher who has spent half my teaching career helping kids grow strong, confident, and healthy with movement. My husband Zach is a sergeant with the Sheriff’s Department, dedicating his life to protecting and serving our community with courage and compassion. We’ve built a life grounded in service, but now we’re facing something we can’t navigate on our own: unknown infertility, a label that still doesn’t make sense or seem real.
After several years of trying to conceive naturally, we turned to fertility treatments. Each IUI attempt brought a fragile mix of hope and fear. On our very first try, we finally saw that long-awaited positive test. For a few beautiful weeks, we allowed ourselves to dream. We imagined names, peeked at tiny shoes, picking out names and let ourselves believe that our time has finally come to be parents.

Then came the 9week ultrasound.
No heartbeat. A missed miscarriage, shortly after we had detected a heartbeat.
We were and still are shattered.

Now, our doctor has told us that our only remaining chance at having a biological child is IVF—a journey full of hope, but also heartbreakingly expensive. Our insurance covers none of it. Every step—from medications to monitoring to the procedure itself—must be paid out of pocket. A single cycle can cost upwards of $25,000 for the procedures alone, and it may take more than one.
We’ve used our savings. We’ve picked up every extra shift. But this dream, as close as it feels, is still just out of reach.
So we’re here, humbly asking for help.
If you are able to donate—any amount—know that you’re not just supporting a medical procedure. You’re investing in a dream of two people who have spent their lives caring for others finally take the first step toward holding a child of their own.
Please donate, share, and send love. Every kind gesture brings us closer to our future. I ask that you continue to pray for us and our journey as we navigate this scary time in our lives.
