Campaign Story

My name is Dominique. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 5 years. I am a second grade teacher and my husband work for a concrete company. We began trying to conceive in July of 2018. We ended up getting pregnant in October of 2019, but unfortunately it resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. I had to be rushed to the hospital due to severe pain and then soon after had emergency surgery. I was devastated but did not give up. We continued to try to conceive and tried several rounds of Clomid. However, I was then hospitalized again in December of 2019 where I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. I had severe inflammation and ended up needing a bowel resection in January of 2020. During this time my fertility journey had to be put on hold. Once we got the clear to start trying again we decided it was time to see a fertility expert. Soon after, I was diagnosed with hydrosalpinx, which is fluid blockage in the fallopian tube. I had no choice but to have another surgery to get the tube removed. Since then, I have tried several round of letrozole, IUIs and even two rounds of IVF. Our first round resulted in a perfect embryo that unfortunately failed to implant. The second round resulted in 17 eggs retrieved and only 4 fertilized. We are currently waiting on results of our 4 embryos. I am tired and I have been let down too many times to count. BUT I am not giving up on our dream for a family. We have drained our saving and our parents have already contributed more than they were able. We have learned a lot about my body and how it responses to treatment. We feel certain that one more round of IVF can help us get the family we always dreamed of. Thank you for taking the time to hear my story.
