Campaign Story

Hey everyone my name is Saraissa and my fiancé and I need help completing our parenthood journey. When I was 18 years old I was tested for a genetic gene called BRCA2 and the results were scary. It came back positive so from that point on I had drs telling me to get my ovaries take out and a double mastectomy. Well fast forward to 2020 and I decided to do the double mastectomy. Over the past 1.5 years I have had 1 major surgery and 3 revisions. Mind you I’m only 31. This was a very hard decision for me but knew it was the best decision at the time. My chances for cancer went up into the 90s after 35 years old. With COVID souring everyone’s lives I was very lucky to have met my fiancé Leah in 2020 right before my surgery. She has helped me through more than she truly knows and I wouldn’t want to build a life with anyone else. The lgbtq community has a very hard time just to start a family and its truly rough at times. Now my health conditions that make me very uncomfortable with when it comes to pregnancy is; I was born with a hole in my heart (also known as VSD) I also have a slight mitral Valve Prolapse and the BRCA2. Since I have already had the double mastectomy I can not breast feed. With the formula storage the way it is is extremely scary. I want the best for our baby as does she. This is why we chose for her to carry my egg because it’s safer and it is what is truly best for the baby. We made our appointment for the consult and scheduled LOTS of blood work and tests. Then we get the price, anywhere from $15000 to $25000. This put a big issue in our plans that we had. Truthfully we were crushed. With the way the world is now it makes it impossible to save money let alone have that much just hanging out. Asked about financing and well they said they need $16000 down. Unfortunately we dont have that money saved up. Leah is healthy, no medical issues and we just want a family but the price is making it impossible to just get started. Please help Leah and I complete our family with this precious child that we are praying for so badly.
