There’s a moment in every woman’s life when she imagines how her journey to motherhood might unfold. I always dreamed of a stress free pregnancy, hearing a heartbeat on the ultrasound, decorating a nursery, and holding my baby close. But for me, the road to becoming a mother has been anything but traditional — and far from easy.

I’ve suffered second infertility after my rainbow babies, but the heartbreak of not one, but multiple ectopic pregnancies — each one stealing not only my hope but also my physical ability to conceive naturally. One by one, my fallopian tubes were removed in emergency surgeries, leaving me medically infertile. It was a grief that hit in layers — the loss of a pregnancy, the trauma of emergency procedures, and the finality of hearing the words, “You will not be able to conceive on your own.”

There is a silence that follows that kind of news. It’s a silence filled with pain, guilt, and mourning for a path that’s no longer available to you. But slowly, from that silence, something else began to grow — hope.

We turned to IVF not because we wanted an alternative, but because it was our only path forward. It represents the last light still flickering after the storm. But as many know, the cost of IVF is daunting. After medical bills, time off work, and the emotional toll of our past, the financial weight of this process feels overwhelming. In which, it’s not currently doable.

Still, we believe we can have another baby. We believe that love, science, and support can come together to help create the miracle we’ve been longing for. We are ready to give everything we have — emotionally, physically, spiritually — to welcome the newest addition to our family we’ve dreamed of.

Winning this grant would not just help us financially. It would help us breathe again. It would mean someone else believes in our future as much as we do. It would turn all our loss into something purposeful — the continuation of our family.
