When our daughter was born prematurely, we never imagined the news that would follow. Genetic testing revealed she has PTEN, a rare mutation that carries a higher risk of certain cancers. Our hearts broke all over again when our son was also born premature—and we learned he, too, had inherited the same condition.

Our dream has always been to grow our family, but the fear of passing down this mutation has made that dream feel impossible. After countless consultations, we’ve learned that IVF with genetic testing is our best chance to have healthy children—giving us the ability to screen embryos and prevent this pain from being passed on again. But the cost is overwhelming. Between medications, procedures, and lab fees, we’re facing tens of thousands of dollars we simply can’t shoulder alone.
