When our daughter was born prematurely, we learned she had the PTEN mutation—a rare genetic condition that increases her risk of cancer. Then, our son arrived early too, and we discovered he carried the same mutation. Our hearts ached knowing the challenges they would face, but we also knew we wanted to grow our family with love and hope.

The PTEN mutation means our children will need lifelong monitoring and care, but it also led us to explore IVF with genetic testing (PGT) to ensure any future siblings could be born without this burden. The emotional toll has been heavy, and the financial strain even heavier—IVF is expensive, and insurance doesn’t cover the genetic testing we need. Every step forward feels like a mountain to climb, but we refuse to give up on our dream of a healthy, happy family.
