Campaign Story

Our names are Sam and Jen. We have been married for 10 wonderful years. We are writing this letter with hopeful hearts as we take this next step in our journey to build the family we have always dreamed of. For 6 years, we have faced the challenges of infertility, searching for answers without any clear direction. It has been a long journey filled with uncertainty and heartache.

Family and friends have always been at the center of our lives. We have always been Uncle Sam and Aunt Genevieve to all of the children in our circles. We are very close with both of our families and have a wonderful friend group. Together, we have built a beautiful little farm here in Washington state with Sam’s parents right down the road. We raise pigs and chickens, along with a large vegetable garden, every year. We raise, grow, and catch as much of our food as possible and we truly believe in being organic and sustainable.

Our home is filled with the love of our two crazy rescue dogs and our homely yet very lovable rescue cat, who bring us joy, laughter, and companionship every single day. They are like children to us, reminding us daily of the love and care we are eager to give as parents.

Beyond our home, we are an active couple who thrive in the outdoors. Together, we explore the mountains, fish, camp, hunt, and hike. Finding peace in the connection and appreciation for nature. Jen is an RN with a determination and drive that is a force to be reckoned with. Sam is a true master of all trades with a mind that never stops turning. We both pride ourselves on being lifelong learners.

Our journey has been longer and more challenging than we ever imagined. Over years of negative pregnancy tests, visits to fertility clinics, and a failed IUI attempt we have learned that Jen has PCOS and Sam has unexplained low sperm counts. We’ve navigated countless appointments and procedures, each one holding a flicker of hope. During this time we opened our hearts and home to adoption, and for six beautiful months, we loved a little girl as our own. When the state decided to put her back with the family she started with, a piece of our hearts went with her. The grief was profound, and it taught us just how deep our desire to parent truly is.

With only a 2-3% chance of success we tried one round of IUI that was not successful. Our doctors have been clear: IVF is our best, and likely only, path to having a biological child with a 66% chance given our situation. While this news was difficult, it also gave us a clear direction and a renewed sense of hope.

The cost of IVF is significant at almost $25,000 and it’s why we’re humbly asking for your support. Any contribution you can make will go directly toward the medical procedures, medications, and appointments that stand between us and our dream of holding our baby in our arms.

We hope for a future filled with bedtime stories and scraped knees, teaching our child about the wonderful world we live in, and sharing our love and appreciation for mother nature. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading our story, for your support, and for helping us take this step toward the family we’ve always dreamed of.
