Campaign Story

We are deeply grateful to share a little about our family and our journey towards growing it. Becoming parents to our first child was a dream come true, and we treasure every moment with him. From the beginning, we knew building a family might be difficult. My wife was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 24, and later a rare tumor required removal of her left ovary and left fallopian tube. These experiences not only impacted her overall health, but also directly our fertility. When we began trying for our first child, we were told our chances were very low due to diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). My wife’s AMH was already extremely low, but with the help of fertility specialists, we conceived through IUI on our very first attempt.

Now, as we hope to grow our family, we face even more significant challenges. My wife’s ovarian reserve has declined further, with a recent AMH of 0.05. Numerous treatments have been attempted, including letrozole, clomiphene, and gonadotropins, but her body is no longer responding to medication. We have completed only three IUIs (all unsuccessful) since January 2025 due to anovulatory cycles, lack of follicular growth, and absent periods. It has become clear that egg donation IVF is our only path to growing our family.

We are committed to pursuing egg donation IVF not only because we dream of having another child, but also because we want our children to be close in age. Siblings share a unique bond, and it is our hope to give our child the gift of growing up with a brother or sister beside them. My wife and I’s lives have been greatly enriched by having close siblings, which is what we want for our son and future 2nd child. We know the love and joy they will bring to each other’s lives will last a lifetime.

The financial aspect of egg donation IVF, however, is daunting. After years of medical challenges combined with the unanticipated costs of everyday life (namely unforeseeable major home & auto repairs), the cost of egg donation IVF is simply beyond what we can manage on our own. We are humbly applying for this grant in the hope that it will help make this dream possible. Your support would not only ease the burden of the financial cost, but would directly enable the chance of welcoming another child into our family.

Despite the challenges, we continue to hold onto hope. Our journey has shown us resilience, hope, and gratitude for the family we already have. We know that growing our family through egg donation would not only fulfill our dream, but also provide our son with the lifelong gift of a sibling to share life’s joys and struggles with.
