Campaign Story

Welcome to our puzzle fundraiser. We are Courtney and Ryan Riley. We have struggled with infertility for the past three years with a diagnosis of PCOS and slight MFI. In June of 2021 after trying for over a year and working with our local fertility center we finally were able to conceive our son Rhett. We were over the moon and so happy our dreams finally came true. Half way through my pregnancy with Rhett I developed complications which resulted in an unexpected classical c-section delivery at 24 weeks. Rhett was born 11/14/21 weighing 14.3oz and 10in long. He was such a fighter but lost his battle in the NICU 2 days later where he passed on 11/16/21. Our hearts were crushed and our world fell apart. After working through our grief we knew we wanted to grow our family. We have been trying for our rainbow baby ever since, but we have not been successful. We have done a second HSG test, a Saline sonogram, a laparoscopy, and over eight rounds of fertility medicine with no success. One round of fertility medication did result in a very early pregnancy loss in September of 2022 and November 2023. Unfortunately the time has come that the medicine we are taking is not effective and further intervention is required. We have done two monitored medicated IUIs completely out of pocket this September and October. Both failed. We are now waiting for our consultation with a new fertility center in NY to make our dream of becoming parents to an earth-side baby possible via IVF. As many know, the infertility/IVF journey is a costly journey. Ranging $1,200 a cycle (month) for IUI – $25,000 for ONE round of IVF for a CHANCE at having a baby. We have insurance coverage but like many couples in our position our coverage does not cover anything infertility related which means every visit, ultrasound, blood draw, medication, and procedure is 100% out of pocket. Asking for help is hard and we have been praying for a miracle. We are asking for help from friends and family. We want this rainbow baby SO badly and to live our dream of having an earth side baby come home with us and to finally be able to close this chapter of our lives that has taken so much from us. Puzzle pieces are $10 a piece. Your name will be added to the back of your puzzle piece/pieces. At the end when all pieces are sold the puzzle will be framed and kept as a reminder of all the friends and family who have helped support us along the way.
