My name is Dulcely Tavarez, and I’m a 32-year-old cervical cancer survivor with a heart full of love and a dream I refuse to let go of—becoming a mother.

At 22, my world turned upside down when I was diagnosed with stage 1B2 cervical cancer. I fought through chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries, including a hysterectomy that saved my life but took away my ability to carry a child. Before my second round of treatment, I froze five eggs, clinging to the hope that one day, I might still have a chance at motherhood.

Last year, that hope felt within reach when I began the surrogacy process with two embryos created from those precious eggs. But life had another heartbreak in store—the pregnancy didn’t take. Losing that possibility was devastating, like grieving a future I had fought so hard to protect. Then came the crushing news: my remaining ovary no longer produces viable eggs. Surrogacy with my own eggs is no longer an option.

But my dream of being a mom hasn’t faded—it’s only grown stronger. Now, I’m turning to adoption or surrogacy with a donated embryo, determined to build the family I’ve always wanted. The road ahead is expensive—adoption can cost upwards of $40,000, and surrogacy with embryo donation even more. After years of medical bills and my first surrogacy attempt, I need help to make this next step possible.
