First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes…. Infertility & IVF….
Hi, we’re the Elam’s—Rachel and Curtis—and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking a moment to read about our infertility and IVF journey.
Curtis and I crossed paths in late 2017, and by 2020, we had tied the knot, eager to build a beautiful life together. Since then, we’ve been dreaming of adding the missing piece to our family puzzle. But life, as it often does, has thrown us some painful curveballs.
Curtis had a vasectomy after he and his ex-wife completed their family, thinking that chapter of his life was closed. Then, everything changed—life happened. They divorced, and we found each other. We fell in love, got married, and now, together, we’re ready to finish building our own beautiful, blended family.
In 2021, Curtis underwent a vasectomy reversal surgery, and we held our breath, hoping it would bring us one step closer to our dream. But sadly, it didn’t work. Still, we tried to stay hopeful, thinking maybe time would help. But months passed, and the heartbreaking truth began to sink in—this wasn’t going to be our solution.
Curtis bravely faced a second surgery summer of 2024, and once again, our hopes soared. But we were devastated when we learned that this attempt, too, did not work. But in the midst of that heartbreak, we clung to a glimmer of hope. During the surgery, our surgeon had the foresight to extract and freeze some sperm, just in case. Those precious vials now represent our last hope of growing our family in the way we’ve dreamed of.
We’ve been told that IVF is now our best and likely only chance of bringing a child into this world together. It’s a reality that has been difficult to face, but we’re ready to take that step. So, we are humbly asking for your help. IVF is not just a medical process; it’s an emotional and financial rollercoaster. Every donation, every bit of support, brings us closer to the hope of holding our miracle baby in our arms.
All donations will go directly toward IVF expenses, including medications, procedures, and, with any luck, a successful pregnancy and birth. If you aren’t able to contribute financially, sharing our story with others would mean the world to us.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of this journey with us. Your kindness gives us strength and hope. God bless.
