Campaign Story

Hi there, everybody!
For starters, this has taken me quite some time to decide to create and post as this has been quite a journey. Life has been nothing short of crazy for the past 5 months as we lost my mother very unexpectedly right after Christmas of 2022 and my fathers health has been very rocky, but prior to all of that we have been silently dealing with a diagnosis we were not expecting… ‘Unexplained Infertility’.

“Unexplained infertility is when fertility testing hasn’t found a cause to explain a person or couples infertility. Treatments include fertility medication, lifestyle changes, intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF)”

My husband, Jesse, and I have been together for 6 years now and will be celebrating our first year of being married to each other this year! In our 6 years of being together, we have been absolutely blessed to so easily conceive not one but two beautiful and healthy children who are currently 4 years and 2 years old!

In April of 2021 we decided to begin trying for a third and final child to complete our family. After 12 months of tracking my cycles, I decided to reach out to my OBGYN as we were a bit shocked to have not received a positive test in an entire year of trying. We were referred to an infertility specialist/REI doctor. The REI ordered a test for Jesse’s sperm analysis to be done, showing all good numbers. I had a HSG done to check my tubes in the office, and also had a laparoscopic surgery in the OR to check my tubes as well to make sure there was no possible scar tissues from my second birth due to it being a cesarean, and the doctor indicated both tubes clear and open. Ultrasound to check my uterine lining and egg size right before ovulation, both showing good results.

At this point, we have now been trying to conceive for over 2 years and the doctor indicated that our best next step would be going through with doing …
‘Intrauterine insemination (IUI) — a type of artificial insemination — is a procedure for treating infertility. Sperm that have been washed and concentrated are placed directly in your uterus around the time your ovary releases one or more eggs to be fertilized’.

Unfortunately, our insurance does not cover fertility treatments so for each round of IUI that we would need to complete it would cost us roughly $800. Our REI told us to expect to do anywhere from 1 to 4 rounds of IUI with ovulation inducing medication to help increase the chances of conception.

If you’re able to donate to help us complete our family, we would more than greatly appreciate it!

-Love, The Mausolf Family.
