Campaign Story

My name is Caitlin Burney and I am 27 years old. I am an aunt to 8 beautiful nieces and nephews, unfortunately with no kids of my own. I had to have both fallopian tubes removed on August 1, 2023. As I was going through severe pain I went to the ER in April of 2023, they did scans(CT scan & pelvic ultrasound) and said I had hydrosalpinx(fluid filled) in my right fallopian tube. I was referred out to a specialist, when I went to my specialist appointment, he did one 30 second pelvic ultrasound, I was then told I had hydrosalpinx in both tubes. As I doubted his findings with such a short ultrasound, I then went back to my the hospital where I had the first ct scan and ultrasound, they did another pelvic ultrasound. The results were the same as the first(just my right). I then found a doctor in the same town as me that a families relative went to. I opted out the have any more scans done and requested the doctor to go in via laparoscopy to see if he could fix my right tube and remove it if not and to look at my left. We scheduled that on August 1.. when I woke up from surgery, I woke up to being told by my boyfriend that the doctor removed both tubes. I was devastated. I didn’t here from my doctor for two weeks(at my follow up appointment). As this has left my only option, of having my dream of being a mother and carrying my own child come true, In-Vitro Fertilization(IVF). IVF is not cheap. I am saving every penny I can and will be starting the journey come next year. I do plan to have the funds mostly from myself, I have created this fundraiser as having to go through IVF is already stressful and then funding it is more stress as insurance doesn’t cover it in Oklahoma, if anyone would like to help via the fundraiser it would take a some stress away. The funds will cover all IVF procedures, and medication.
