My friend is a 45-year-old woman who has always dreamed of becoming a mother. Her journey has been anything but easy. In 2010, she was trapped in an abusive marriage where her husband refused to start a family, despite her wishes. The abuse escalated to the point where she was hospitalized for weeks after being burned with cigarettes on her legs and thigh. Thankfully, her husband was sentenced to 40 years in jail in 2016, but the trauma left deep scars. For two years, my friend withdrew from the world, only leaving home for work. She was embarrassed and struggled to find herself again. I prayed for her every day, hoping she would heal and rediscover her happiness.

In 2018, something wonderful happened—she reconnected with her middle school sweetheart, someone she had known for nearly 30 years. Their bond grew stronger, and they have been together for eight years now. For the past four years, they have been trying to conceive, but recently my friend was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. This diagnosis means that IVF is her best hope for having a child. When I heard the news, I knew I had to do something to help. I started this GoFundMe as a surprise, hoping to give her the chance to finally have the family she has always wanted.
