Campaign Story

Hello everyone! My name is Kari and my wife and I are here to ask for some help. We don’t like to ask for help, but at some point you need to swallow your pride if it helps you pursue your dream. My wife, Kacie and I have been together for 7 years, happily married for 5 of them 🙂 For the past year we have been trying to extend our family and I have been the first up to the plate:) I’m older so it’s only fair, plus it’s been a dream of mine to be a mother for a long time. Back in June I found out the reason we weren’t getting pregnant from our known donor because one of my fallopian tubes was blocked. I went through surgery where they diagnosed me with endometriosis. Since the surgery, and after advocating for myself, both my tubes are open and I’m now a candidate for IUI. So here we are, on the next chapter of this journey. I am currently employed as an ABA therapist and help children and families affected by Autism. I love my job, and I am very passionate about helping the kiddos I work with. However, my employer chooses Wisconsin insurance over Illinois which provides fertility treatment coverage. Therefore everything I do at a fertility clinic is out of pocket. We have already spent 4,000 dollars on our first treatment with donor sperm included since we can no longer use a known donor. This second part of our journey has been stressful and very emotional but I have so much faith I will be able to make my wife and I mothers together.
