Campaign Story

Hello all, my name is Charis, I am 37 years old and am married to the love of my life Carlos. Carlos and My fertility journey started 5 years ago when I was diagnosed with PCOS. We tried clomid and timed intercourse for a few months and when that did not happen, we began to look at a possible male infertility cause. I have been pregnant 4 times in my life and have two beautiful daughters so all signs were pointing to male infertility.

After much blood work, genetic testing, sperm analysis and multiple doctors, Carlos was diagnosed with non-obstructive azoospermia that was most likely caused by a medical illness that went untreated when he was a child.

Carlos needs a MICROTESE procedure although multiple doctors believe that our chances of being able to find any viable sperm are less than 10%. We are trying to raise money to get this procedure done as it is a chance at a baby of our own genetics, although if this does not result in any viable sperm, we will move forward with a donor that we already have picked out.

Any help is greatly appreciated and I couldn’t be more proud of my husband to stand up and face his infertility head on and get his story out there to prove that male infertility is usually faced with disbelief, shame, guilt, loss of pride, sense of self and worth….but it does not have to be! It is a problem in over 30% of couples struggling with infertility and these numbers are rising. Let’s get the conversation started and help our men out dealing with these struggles as well!

All that being said, I do have a small amount of coverage for IVF treatment but this procedure Carlos needs will have to be done first before anything else can happen. Unfortunately insurance does not cover male infertility issues at all at this time either so all this procedure will be out of pocket before we can even start treatment on my end.

Once again, thank you all for your time and gracious efforts to help us and all of you will be in our prayers throughout this journey and throughout your own journey’s as well.
