Campaign Story

Hello, my name is Kendra. My husband and I have been trying to start a family for the past 2 years, but unfortunately haven’t been able to. We got married in October of 2019 and have been trying ever since. We’ve seen several fertility doctors and are currently working with Shady Grove Fertility at their clinics in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and Rockville, Maryland. We’ve both been tested for any signs of infertility/genetic issues and still nothing has been found. We’ve done several rounds of Clomid and trigger shots with no luck. I’ve gone through several procedures to look for anything abnormal and/or alarming, but still nothing has been found. My body responds to the medications, but for whatever reason our baby still hasn’t been made.

Back in December of 2020, we took a break from all fertility treatments and ended up pregnant. We unfortunately lost the baby in January and don’t know why. We’re still grieving and working on getting past that, but it’s been an absolute nightmare.

We recently decided to give IVF a try through Shady Grove. We’ve done a lot of testing and a few procedures with them and were finally ready to get started, but then we both got COVID a few weeks ago. With me being a teacher at a new building this year, all of my sick days are gone. It absolutely devastates us to have to wait, but now with having no time left to use, we’re going to push our IVF treatment off until the summer. We’re hoping that these next several months, we can save as much money as we can because our insurance won’t cover any of it.

We both have no experience with anything like this and we haven’t had any close friends or family go through this either. We’re hopeful that we’re finally going to be able to make baby Lorson happen, but we’re also very overwhelmed, scared, and truly don’t know where to begin with the financial piece. We’re looking into financial help and different grants that are offered, but still need to be able to afford all of the medications on top of the actual IVF procedures. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that one day our dreams will come true and we’ll become the parents we so desperately want to be!
