Campaign Story

My name is Nina, and I am on the path to becoming a single mother by choice. I know, you probably have questions about why I’m choosing this particular path. I’m a school counselor who has dedicated the last 19 years of my life to loving on other people’s children. I have cheered for them, gone to their events, bought clothing and shoes, wiped their tears, and occasionally scolded them for some sort of misbehavior. I don’t plan to stop anytime soon, but I would like to channel some of that love and dedication into a child of my own. I love being a dog mom (shout out to Queso and Cardi), but I want to be a human’s mom. I waited for love and marriage, but my 40th birthday arrived before that, and I had to make a decision. At the end of 2022, I did two rounds of IUI. The first one was unsuccessful, but the second one resulted in a pregnancy. Unfortunately, I miscarried around the seven week mark. I would have liked to try again, but I just didn’t have the money to do so. My doctor allows for three rounds of IUI for women my age before we have to move on to IVF. I realize that my miscarriage was most likely the result of my egg quality. I would like to move on to IVF to ensure that the healthiest eggs are fertilized and eventually implanted. My school counselor salary pays my bills, but it isn’t enough to cover a round of IVF. At 42, almost 43 years old, I have to move quickly. I have an amazing village of family and friends who love me, and who would love my child even more. Any amount that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
