Campaign Story

My name is Jamie and my husband Brian and I met in 2018 when I thought he was cute at a bar and stole chicken wings off his plate and put a beer on his tab. This moment of out of character boldness has been the greatest decision of my life. We moved in together three months later were have been trying to start a family since 2020. During this process Brian tested positive for chromosome translocation. Translocation occurs when a piece of one chromosome breaks off and attaches to another chromosome. While Brian has no symptoms that affect his health, this type of translocation increases the chance of miscarriage from natural pregnancy to around 70%. The only way to avoid recurrent miscarriages is IVF, so that testing can be done at the embryo stage. This news was quite a shock to health obsessed Brian, and to me who thought my age was to blame, (I was 32 when we got married in 2020). Having a family has always been part of both our life plans, and while we are finding other ways to give back to our community and stay connected, Brian currently volunteers with Big Brothers/Big sisters and I work Sundays at Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary, having children of our own would be our greatest blessing. Thank you to anyone who even considers helping us become parents and I have the greatest empathy to anyone who knows how this feels.
