Campaign Story

My name is Michaela Riley and my husband is Dylan Riley. Our ttc journey started in 2019. After getting married we decided we want to start our own family.
We tried naturally to conceive for about a year and a half with no luck. After that long with no luck we made our first appointment with a fertility specialist in April of 2020.
Our first doctor had me get an HSG done, which is basically when dye is used to see if fallopian tubes are blocked by scar tissue. Unfortunately we learned that my fallopian tubes were blocked, meaning my eggs couldn’t pass through in order to conceive naturally. We were told we have less than a 5% chance of conceiving without IVF.
After finally getting answers and waiting so long to become parents, we took out a loan and started our first IVF cycle in September of 2021. After many doctor’s appointments, blood draws, injections, and a trip to New York, we finally made it to the retrieval part of the process. We retrieved 15 eggs and only 4 matured and became embryos. 3 days later we travelled all the way back to New York for our transfer. We transferred our best graded embryo and were very hopeful. About 2 weeks later we got the call saying our cycle had failed..
I scheduled a consult to speak with our doctor and he recommended that I have my fallopian tubes removed. So I scheduled my surgery for February 2022. After having my surgery I went in for my 3 week check up and found out that the reason for all the pain and the blockage in my tubes was Endometriosis.
We were told we had to wait 3 months to start IVF again so we got prepared and started the process of finding out how much our insurance would cover. Unfortunately our insurance does not offer any fertility treatment coverage.
Months later, we decided to try again so I called and scheduled my second consultation which was January 4th 2023. My doctor and I talked and he has me on a different protocol this time around. Meaning i’m on more medications this time around since our first cycle failed. He ordered all of our meds to get the ball rolling but unfortunately we found out that all of our medication costs $4200.
My husband and I are 22 years old and currently raising an 8 year old little boy and want nothing more than to start growing our little family.
Nothing is expected but any donations are more than appreciated!
