Campaign Story

Hi! My name is Felicia. My husband, Kelly, and I have been trying to start a family for over 5 years now. We have gone through so many fertility medications, ultrasounds, doctor visits. We have seen three different doctors for this. We have unsuccessfully completed 6 IUI treatments. We actually did conceive twice but, unfortunately, both ended in a miscarriage. We were devastated. Our reproductive endocrinologist says that our best chance for a successful pregnancy would be to undergo IVF treatments. I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome so it was already going to be hard for me to conceive, but my husband also has fertility issues preventing us. Therefore it is twice as hard to conceive.

My husband and I want a family so badly. We have so much love to give. We do not have any children of our own yet, but we have 7 nieces and nephews and are very active in their lives. We were trying to have children before my dad passed away as he was always so good with them and loved all of us and his nieces and nephews and great nieces so much. My dad was the best of dads. He was so involved in our life and his nieces and nephews lives. He was diagnosed with 2 different types of cancers a few years ago, but he beat them! Unfortunately, he caught the COVID-19 virus and passed away earlier this year. Due to his previous chemo therapy and radiation therapy, his lungs were not strong enough to beat COVID-19. It has been such a hard year for us all.

I added the story about my dad because my husband and I put off IVF treatments for awhile due to the financial burden it would cause. But after my dad passed away, we did not want to wait any longer. Life is just too short. Since insurance does not cover infertility treatments, we have to pay for everything out of pocket. I am currently working 3 jobs to make ends meet and to save up money for these treatments and my husband is also working 2 jobs to help.

Even with the extra jobs, we are no where near the amount that we need for this. If you could find it in your heart to donate to us, we would be forever grateful. We both understand, more than most, how COVID has affected everyone financially. So, even if you donate just 5.00 we will be so appreciative. Thank you for reading a little bit about our fertility journey. And thank you for helping us continue this journey.
