Campaign Story

Hi my name is Angelina. I have been on quite the journey for a couple years now. My wife Leilani and I have been trying to have a baby for over 2 years now. We started our journey in January 2020 with 3 rounds of at home inseminations. When those didn’t work, we went through 4 rounds of IUI where we discovered a blockage in my left tube. At that point the doctor recommended we go the IVF route. In March of 2021, my wife went through an egg retrieval process where they retrieved 4 normal 5 day embryos. We decided to do reciprocal IVF and our first embryo transfer was in April of 2021. To our surprise, we were pregnant! Our 6 week ultrasound showed TWINS! We were through the roof! We shared the news with our daughter (from my prior relationship, 15 years old); she was so emotional and couldn’t stop crying with excitement. We even took announcement photos on the beach. at that point I was 10 weeks along with healthy boys. At our last RE visit before graduation to the OB, we received the most heartbreaking information….The nurse couldn’t find a heart beat of either baby boy. We were froze. Stunned…no words could come out….Our world just came crashing….Having to share the news with our daughter was by far the hardest thing I ever had to do. We never in a million years expected to hear that news. I went through a D&C procedure to prevent potential hemmorage. We took a well needed break from IVF….We decided to try again in December of 2021…two embryos transferred and resulted in a chemical pregnancy. We are hurt. We are in pain. We have exhausted all of our financial resources. We want nothing more than to make our daughter a big sister and to complete our family. Your prayers are very appreciated. xoxo, The Akai’s
