Campaign Story

My name is Andrea. I am a 35 year old single woman who has always wanted to have my own family. I have poured my heart and soul into teaching children starting from babysitting, to daycare and now an educator for the past 11 years. I donated eggs when I was in my 20s because I wanted to help a woman start a family who couldn’t do it on her own. Now I find myself struggling and needing help. I recently suffered an ectopic pregnancy that caused one of my tubes to rupture and during an emergency surgery to remove it, was also diagnosed with endometriosis. Both of these can cause infertility. To make matters worse, I had a procedure done to check my remaining tube just to find out that it was also blocked. I started looking into my insurance and there is no cover for ivf but there is for iui. In order to do iui I need a working tube, which I do not have. I feel at a total loss and that something I have always wanted is being torn from me with little to no chance of ever happening. In an attempt to have a family in the future I am hoping to freeze eggs right now. Because of my age and medical conditions I know that 2-3 rounds of medication and egg retrievals were suggested, each costing about $5000. Without insurance helping with cost I am scared.
