Campaign Story

My name is Olivia and I have a history of miscarriages. My partner and I have been trying to conceive for about 5 years, and when it finally happened for us in January of 2020 we were ecstatic! However, in February 2020 I miscarried again which brought on a battery of tests for my partner and I. Our doctors checked from the most basic of things all the way down to my chromosomes. We learned that not only do we have difficulty getting pregnant for some other unknown reason, but I have a clotting disorder called Antiphospholipid Syndrome, also referred to as APS. If you haven’t heard of this, it’s because it’s a pretty rare condition. With fewer than 200,000 cases per year in the US, this disorder basically makes my immune system attack normal proteins in the blood which can cause blood clots in the veins, arteries and organs. Much to our dismay, it can also cause miscarriages and stillbirth. Our doctors told us that any and all of my future pregnancies will be high risk, because of my history of miscarriages and with this disorder as well, because I will have to be on blood thinners every day for the duration of my pregnancy. After receiving counseling for our loss, adding supplements to our health regimens to increase our fertility naturally- here we are 2 years later…
We’re trying to come up with the funds to receive the gonadotropin fertility medication recommended by my OB. However, my insurance will not cover any of it. Between the cost of the fertility medication and the cost of the anticoagulants, my partner and I find ourselves looking for assistance.

A lot of people grow up having dreams and goals of being extremely successful on their chosen career paths, or traveling the world- and then there are people like myself and Matthew. People who have always dreamed of becoming parents and finding that sense of fulfillment in having children and growing our families. It’s never the easiest thing to find out that something you’ve longed to have for so long might actually be unattainable. Please help us reach our goal of starting our family.
